Our team possesses in depth advisory, transactional and operational experience across multiple industry segments and financial disciplines. By drawing on the collective resources, experience and relationships of its Principals and senior officers, The Salter Group can leverage its platform globally.
Our senior team is lead by:
Roy A. Salter
Mr. Salter is a Founding Principal based in the Los Angeles Office where he co-manages the firm's overall practice and project management efforts.
Prior to The Salter Group, Mr. Salter was a Principal and Managing Director with the investment bank Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, where he co-managed the firm's global industry group practices including Life Sciences, Entertainment & Media, Telecom-Media-Technology and Diversified Industries between 1988 and 2003. Therein, Mr. Salter co directed the development and operating methods associated with the firm's industry groups. Mr. Salter has extensive experience across a broad range of industries in providing forecasting and strategic advisory support, fairness and solvency opinions, 157 goodwill impairment and purchase price allocation opinions, 409A and other impaired interest opinions, intangible asset valuations and dispute resolution.
Mr. Salter frequently lectures on a variety of corporate finance subjects. Mr. Salter has taught MBA courses in the Anderson School of Business at UCLA on the subjects of business valuation and business-plan development. Mr. Salter has taught similar courses in the Harvard Business School, California Institute of Technology, the European Media Business School and other venues. In addition, Mr. Salter has authored a text on the subject of valuing media and entertainment industry investments published by Warren Publications.
Mr. Salter is a Founder and Member of the Board of Directors of California United Bank where he acts in the capacity of Chairman for the Asset & Liability Management Committee. In addition, Mr. Salter is a founder and board Principal of Royalty Review Council, an independent royalty administration company, and an academic advisory board member for California State University at Northridge.
Prior to Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Salter was a Vice President with Wells Fargo Capital Markets, Inc., where he provided mezzanine financing and M&A services to select bank clients. Previous to Wells Fargo Capital Markets, Mr. Salter was a Vice President in Well's Fargo's Commercial Banking Group focusing on providing loans to middle-market companies in Southern California. Mr. Salter attended California State University at Northridge where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Business Economics and Investment Management, and Loyola Marymount University where he earned an M.B.A.

Eric C. Briggs
Mr. Briggs is a Founding Principal based in the Los Angeles Office where he co-manages the firm's overall practice and project management efforts. Mr. Briggs has extensive experience across a broad range of financial advisory roles including fairness opinions, intangible asset valuations, litigation support and strategic planning.
Since the formation of The Salter Group, Mr. Briggs has directly managed over 850 engagements for a broad array of domestic and international clients including Goldman Sachs, Sony, Cerberus Capital, Fortress Capital, EMI Group plc, Citigroup and KKR. Further, Mr. Briggs has advised clients across multiple industry sectors including entertainment and media, construction, technology and life sciences.
During 2009, Mr. Briggs joined the faculty in the Finance and Business Economics Department in the Marshall School of Business at USC. Mr. Briggs teaches Corporate Finance and Investment Valuation whereby coursework ranges from capital budgeting and business forecasting to security valuation.
Mr. Briggs was previously with Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin in Financial Advisory Services and has served as a Research Associate and Teaching Associate at the Anderson School at UCLA.
In addition, Mr. Briggs has lectured at the Anderson School at UCLA, Brown University and the Marshall School of Business at USC. Mr. Briggs has authored several white papers on topics including income mobility, the impact of taxes on valuation and equity holding behavior.
Mr. Briggs received his MBA in Applied Finance from the Anderson School at UCLA and holds a B.S. with Honors in Economics from Brown University. Mr. Briggs is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, American Statistical Association and the Young Entrepreneurs' Organization (YEO).

Patrick A. Russo
Mr. Russo is a Founding Principal based in the Los Angeles Office where he co-manages the firm’s overall practice and project management efforts. Since the formation of The Salter Group, Mr. Russo has overseen numerous domestic and international client relationships including The Walt Disney Company, Village Roadshow, Sony/ATV, The Shine Group, Exception Wildbunch, Discovery Communications, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. Ltd, Goldman Sachs and many others. Mr. Russo has extensive experience across a broad range of financial advisory roles including mergers and acquisitions, fairness opinions, intangible asset valuations, litigation support and strategic planning.
Mr. Russo was previously a Vice President in the Entertainment & Media Group of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin. In this capacity, he focused on investment banking and financial advisory projects.
Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Russo was a Vice President in the Media and Entertainment Industries Group at SG Cowen Securities Corporation (and its predecessor companies Societe General Bannon, LLC and Bannon & Co.), specializing in mergers and acquisitions and capital raising. Prior to SG Cowen, Mr. Russo was an Assistant Vice President at ABN AMRO Bank, where he was responsible for all film financing transactions in North America and was a member of the bank’s Global Media and Communications Finance Group.
Mr. Russo also served as a Senior Credit Analyst for Credit Suisse in Los Angeles and New York, with a focus on media and entertainment. Mr. Russo received his MBA from Fordham University and holds a BS in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickenson University. Mr. Russo is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and the Finance Board of Advisors and the President’s Council of Fordham University. He is also a frequent speaker on various entertainment and media and financial topics.

Scott Solomon
Mr. Solomon, a Managing Director based in the Los Angeles office, works primarily in the firm's transaction support and financial opinion practice groups. Mr. Solomon also manages the firm's legal affairs as its General Counsel.
Mr. Solomon was previously the Secretary and General Counsel of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, the international investment banking firm, where he held key positions of responsibility for that firm's opinion risk management, regulatory compliance, private equity fund activities and international expansion.
Prior to joining The Salter Group, Mr. Solomon served as the Secretary and General Counsel of Youbet.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:UBET), a diversified provider of technology and horse racing content through Internet and telephone platforms, where he managed all material acquisition and financing transactions.
Mr. Solomon received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a B.S. degree with Highest Honors in Accounting from the University of Illinois, Urbana.
Mr. Solomon is the former Chair of the Planning Commission for the City of Calabasas, California, and was previously licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois as well as a General Securities Registered Representative.

Samuel Renwick, CFA
Mr. Renwick, a Managing Director in the San Francisco office of The Salter Group, focuses on providing services to our global life science and technology clients.
Prior to joining The Salter Group, Mr. Renwick was a Managing Director at SVB Analytics, the valuation and financial advisory affiliate of Silicon Valley Bank, and led the development of the their life science practice. While at SVB Analytics, Mr. Renwick provided valuation opinions for advisory, tax and financial reporting purposes. These opinions included: purchase price allocations, derivative valuations, intangible asset valuations, portfolio valuations and general business valuations. Mr. Renwick’s work has been reviewed by Global Six accounting firms and the SEC.
Prior to SVB Analytics, Mr. Renwick was a Manager in the San Francisco office of Huron Consulting Group. At Huron, he was responsible for the development of the company’s IRC 409A and SFAS 123R service offering and he also served as a technical lead for complex derivative valuations. Before joining Huron, he founded and operated a financial advisory and valuation consulting services firm.
Mr. Renwick earned a BA degree from Westmont College and an MBA degree from the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management, graduating with honors from both institutions. At UCLA Anderson, he earned the J. Fred Weston award for academic excellence in finance. Mr. Renwick has been conferred the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst by the CFA Institute and is a member of the Fair Value Forum.
